Alimta-pemnat
"Alimta" contains Drug / Molecule called “Pemetrexed”. Alimta works by inhibiting enzymes used in purineand pyrimidine synthesis, thus inhibiting the formation of precursor purine and pyrimidine nucleotides, in turn prevents the formation of DNA and RNA, which are required for the growth and survival of both normal cells and cancer cells.
“Pemnat” is the generic version of “Alimta” and both contains same drug “Pemetrexed”.
Indication
Alimta is used for the treatment of patients with advanced nonsquamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Alimta is also used for malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), which is a cancer that affects the inside lining of the chest cavity and cannot be treated with surgery.

Precaution
- Premedication regimen: Prior initiate supplementation with oral folic acid and intramuscular vitamin B12, to reduce the severity of hematologic and gastrointestinal toxicity of Alimta.
- Alimta is a prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice.
- Alimta may cause bone marrow suppression
