Alkeran-alphalan
"Alkeran" contains Drug / Molecule called “Melphalan”. Alkeran is cytotoxic drug belonging to class of alkylating agent of the Bischloroethylamine type. It chemically alters through alkylation of the DNA nucleotide guanine, and causes linkages between strands of DNA. This chemical alteration inhibits DNA synthesis and RNA sythesis, functions necessary for cells to survive. These changes cause cytotoxicity in both dividing and non-dividing tumor cells.
“Alphalan” is the generic version of "Alkeran" and both contains same drug “Melphalan”.
Indication
Alkeran is indicated for the palliative treatment of Multiple Myeloma and for the paplliation of non-respectable epithelial carcinoma of the ovary.

Precaution
- Alkeran is a prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice.
- Severe bone marrow suppression with resulting infection or bleeding may occur.
