Xeloda-capegard
"Xeloda" contains Drug / Molecule called “Capecitabine”. Xeloda belongs to a class of anti-metabolites. Capecitabine is a prodrug which is enzymatically converted to the drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in body, letting more of the active drug get to the tumor.
“Capegard” is the generic version of “Xeloda” and both contains same drug “Capecitabine”.
Indication
Xeloda is indicated as first – line treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal carcinoma when treatment with fluoropyrimidine therapy alone is preferred.Xeloda is used to treat breast cancer and colon or rectum cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

Precaution
- Xeloda is a prescription drug and should be used under proper medical guidance and advice.
- Enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) deficiency is an inborn genetic abnormality; it can cause extreme side effects if 5-FU or capecitabine is used.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
